"perhaps because your main piece of furniture is huge and white, you could paint the mantle to match? i'm not a huge fan of painting brick, but you could add a wash over the red to lighten it up a bit or just pick a few brick here and there to add paint to give it a recycled brick look. find a couple of sturdy 4x4s or perhaps recycle some posts and add a column on each end giving it a bit more oomph. to decorate, the clock is amazing already so i wouldn't try to compete too much with the size. perhaps tiny pots of greenery, a smaller 6" or smaller antique clock, other older personal items (glasses or a domed piece of jewelry, etc.), perhaps a family monogram letter or a tall thin Uncle Sam, or tapers in tall holders for height. only you will know when enough is enough. hope these ideas spur some of your own. : )"

Farm Fence Picture Hangers

Yep, that's right! I still have a ton of old fencing piled on the side of the house. I'm determined to find a use for it all. Today I whipped up some farm fence picture hangers for the playroom. I was inspired by Stacie (thanks Stacie!:) over atTHE CREATIVE CRATE I love her idea. I still plan on using it as soon as I can get my hands on some old doors. For now, I thought these would be cute in our Cowboy/ Western playroom.

Here's the step by step:

1. Cut wood to size you want it and staple gun them together. I cut mine just big enough to hold an 8x10 photo.


2. Drill large holes on the top center of the wood.


3. Pull fabric, ribbon, or if you want the western look, bandannas, through the holes and tie. This is how you will hang them from the wall.





4. GLUE on the famous clippy.



5. Add a picture.



6. Make a few more and its a wall of art. Here are a few more shots, just cuz!

I am posting some more pictures of my livingroom so you can get a better feel for my style. (Excuse the dust and awfully fuzzy picture!)
The room itself is a strange shape. I think it was made to be two spaces in one...yeah it hasn't worked like that for me.
Our entertainment center is huge and sits on the opposite wall. This is the main focal point in the room. Also, the fireplace is not a functioning one. I just want it to look pretty. Remember, the "Cinnaberry Suite" is always a work in progress. I have things yet to paint and pictures still need to be put in frames. Don't even look at all my dust! I swear I just dusted! NASTY! I can't wait to hear you ideas. Thanks My Little BErries! You are great!

A Little TUTE!

So, here's my little tute I posted over at "ME and My Bucket". A little "Cinnaberry Suite" Tute! Oh, it smells SO good! =} Hehe!
Here she is...I found her in my head, just like this. She's similar to the one I made HERE
If you can't tell what it is...it's a cute little paper pad to put on your desk or by the phone, with a matching pen. I made it for one of my besties for her birthday. So, you want to make one? Here's what you need:

1 acrylic frame from Dollar Tree

1 wood plaque from Walmart painted and distressed or not.
1 small memo pad (with the wire snipped out) ink the edges of the paper to give it a distressed look, 1 "rsvp" pen, and a clippy thingy.

Cute ribbon, fun scrapbook paper, buttons or anything you want to make it your own.

First I glued the front of the frame to the bottom of my wood plaque with hot glue.

Then, I tied on some cute ribbon. I placed the knot in front and to the side. Then right next to the knot I added my clippy.Oh, don't forget your paper to write your little love notes on!

Next, I cut some flowers out of scrapbook paper in three different sizes. I inked the edges, then, I layered them and kinda bent the petals up. To top it all off, I added a fun little button. CUTE, CUTE!
The pen is easy...you screw off the bottom. Then, you roll a piece of scrapbook paper around the ink part of the pen and slip it back in. Now your PEN matches too! SUITE! THAT'S IT! Easy, huh? Here she is just ONE more time!
I hope you didn't think my TUTE stunk. I know...I need to stop!=)

Giddy up!

HELP! I have been bitten by the spring cleaning bug this week! I went into the playroom today...not a good idea! I tore everything out of it and ended up changing the theme of the room to COWBOY/WESTERN. I saw this idea at Dejavu Crafts. SOOOOO cute. I had to do it...GIDDY UP!
I painted it with a new coat of cream paint and distressed it with a little bit of sanding and stain.
I love the pulls. I paid .65 cents a foot for it. Talk about CHEAP!
I like how it compliments my other paint project in the room. I added a few new bucket on top for toys.

So FUN! Those boots are from my hubbies grandpa. The soles are worn out on the bottom from working so hard out on the ranch. PERFECT addition.

I'll keep you "POSTED" if I finish any more projects in this room.

The Rusty Bucket

I went shopping in my Mom's garage a few weeks ago. One of the things I found was this old rusty bucket. I fell in love! I had no idea what I was going to do with it. That didn't stop me from throwing it in my pile!
My bookcase needed a little pick me up...here's my thought, "OH YEAH, I have a rusty bucket!" I turned the bucket on it's side to show all the rust and corrosion. LOVE IT! Then I threw in a few berry sprigs. Love that too! It still needed a little somethin'. I threw in whatelse...a couple of stars.
To pull it all together I added a few candles and an old wash board. I'm so happy with it! Here's a full view of it all. I love how the red berries and stars bring out the red on my basket frames. I just wish the wind would stop blowing so I can throw a coat of pretty paint on this baby.
